📖 Full Description

Our afternoon begins at the Vale of Avoca, where open grassy trails and wide bushland views create an immediate sense of calm. Unlike enclosed forest tracks, this landscape feels spacious and grounding, making it easy to settle into the pace of the day from the very first step. The walk is relaxed and non-technical, focused on enjoying nature, conversation, and fresh air rather than covering distance or intensity.

Note: For those joining the paddle-only option, this section is not included. The heart of the experience is a shared picnic in nature. We’ll roll out rugs, enjoy grazing boards, and take time to slow down with good food, quiet moments and easy conversation, with no rush or structure.

From here, the group continues on to Yarramundi Reserve for the paddle experience. This peaceful stretch of the Nepean River is one of Sydney’s quieter hidden gems, surrounded by natural bushland and free from speedboats and jet skis. With the support of experienced guides, we’ll paddle stable double kayaks through calm waters, gentle river bends and softening afternoon light as the day moves toward sunset.

For paddle-only participants, this is where you join us — directly at Yarramundi Reserve — for a relaxed, scenic kayak experience designed to feel easy, unhurried and accessible for all levels, including first-time paddlers.

👋 Meet Your Kayak Guide

Istavan is the founder of Kayakkruzer, created from a love of being on the water and a desire to help people experience the Nepean River in a safe, relaxed and welcoming way. Through years of kayaking locally, he developed a strong appreciation for how special the river is, as well as the importance of understanding its conditions, shared use, and the best times to be out, particularly as certain sections can become busier on weekends and warmer days.
