Glenbrook, Blue Mountains National Park

Details

Step into the ancient landscape of the lower Blue Mountains and experience one of the region’s most fascinating Aboriginal heritage sites. This 8 km loop combines gentle forest trails, sandstone gullies, and the awe-inspiring Red Hands Cave — a sacred site featuring ochre hand stencils created between 500 and 1,600 years ago.

📍 Meeting Point: Glenbrook, Blue Mountains National Park (exact meeting point will be texted).

🕘 Time: 8:00am–12:00pm

📏 Distance: 8 km loop

👣 Group Size: 3 - 6 participants

Why You’ll Love This Hike

Starting from Glenbrook Causeway, we’ll wander along Camp Fire Creek through peaceful eucalypt forest, passing weathered rock formations and the rhythmic sound of water over stone. The highlight is Red Hands Cave — an extraordinary window into the cultural history of the Darug people, where vivid red, white and yellow hand stencils line the sandstone walls. Along the way, we’ll pause for quiet moments of reflection, take time to appreciate the bush, and enjoy the company of a small, supportive group of women.
