📖 Full Description

Sometimes the best days are the ones that take you somewhere unexpected. This one starts on a quiet sandstone ridge, ends on a cliff face, and fits a proper lunch somewhere in the middle.

We will walk on Dharug Country, and we do so with gratitude.

The Lockley Pylon Walk is a lesser-travelled gem: a 7km return trail that winds along a eucalyptus-lined ridgeline before opening into wide coastal heathland and one of the most breathtaking panoramas the Blue Mountains has to offer. The Grose Valley Wilderness stretches out in every direction: ancient, vast, and deeply still. With around 182m of elevation gain spread comfortably across the return journey, this walk is genuinely accessible and best enjoyed in the cooler months when the air is sharp and th sunlight is welcome.

After a well-earned lunch at Conservation Hut Café, the afternoon takes a different turn. We head to Narrow Neck for an introductory abseil (Optional).  Stepping back over sandstone cliffs with nothing but the valley below. No experience needed. Just a willingness to back yourself.

🕓  Day Overview

8:30am – 12:30pm — Lockley Pylon Walk We meet at the trailhead and ease into the day along the sandstone ridge. Four hours of good movement, big views and unhurried conversation in the Grose Valley wilderness.

12:30pm – 2:00pm — Lunch A well-earned break. Budget around $20–$40 per person. Options include spots in Katoomba town or the Conservation Hut Café — a Blue Mountains institution with escarpment views to match the food.

2:00pm – 4:00pm — Abseiling at Narrow Neck We head to Narrow Neck for an introductory abseil experience. Stepping over the edge, reading the rock, and trusting the rope. No experience necessary — just a willingness to give it a go.
