Rainy Days Count Too

When you’re trying to spend more time outside, a week of heavy rain can make it feel like all your good intentions have disappeared.
You look outside, see grey skies and soaked walking tracks and suddenly the couch starts winning.
Most of us imagine “getting outdoors” as sunshine, dry paths and blue skies — not wet socks and umbrellas flipping inside out in the wind.
But maybe rainy days still have something to offer us.
It’s funny when you think about it: millions of people listen to rain sounds at night to relax or fall asleep. We stream storms through our phones while lying in warm beds because something about rain calms the nervous system.
Maybe that says something.
Maybe even when we’re indoors, we still crave some kind of connection to the natural world.
And maybe spending time outside doesn’t always have to mean completing a hike or reaching a lookout.
Sometimes it can simply look like:
sitting under a verandah listening to the rain
opening the windows and smelling the damp air
watching the weather roll through with a cup of tea
driving to a quiet café with someone easy to talk to
walking slowly around the block between showers
That still counts.
This has always been part of the idea behind Seek Sista. It was never about being hardcore or pushing through miserable conditions just to prove something. It’s about helping women step away from routine for a little while and reconnect with themselves, nature and other women in simple, realistic ways.
Some days that might mean a scenic trail.
Other days it might just mean listening to rain on a tin roof and realising you don’t have to stay stuck inside your thoughts all day.
The sunshine will come back.
For now, maybe this week is simply asking us to slow down a little.
