🌿 Why You’ll Love This Hike
Begin at the unique Sphinx Memorial, a sandstone monument carved by a WWI veteran in the 1920s. Descend through eucalypt forest to Cowan Creek, following the tranquil Warrimoo Track along mangroves and past Aboriginal middens. At Bobbin Head, enjoy a break by the water. The return journey via the Bobbin Head Trail offers a steady uphill walk through open forest, completing the loop back to the Sphinx Memorial.
📊 Track Grade Breakdown
Sphinx Track to Warrimoo Track (Descent): Grade 4 – Includes a steady downhill with rocky and uneven surfaces, steps and some erosion in parts. Moderate bushwalking experience recommended.
Warrimoo Track to Bobbin Head (Creekside path): Grade 3 – Mostly flat, following alongside Cowan Creek. Uneven terrain and some narrow sections, but manageable for regular walkers.
Bobbin Head Trail back to Sphinx Memorial (Ascent): Grade 4 – A long, gradual climb on a fire trail with limited shade. It’s wide and well-maintained but can be a steady uphill slog requiring good fitness.
